Membership

The criteria for membership of the Association recognises both formal qualifications and length of service. The current membership stands at approximately 2,500, all of whom receive special privileges and services, including access to a free legal helpline. In addition, the Association has an average of 3,500 registered students each year. Students are provided with a free subscription to the AMSPAR magazine during their period of study. Once qualified, all students are invited to become members of the Association.

Which membership can I apply for?

The criteria for membership is as follows:

For applicants with AMSPAR qualifications

• Any person who holds any AMSPAR Diploma (or Certificate in Practice Management) is eligible for admission as a Full Member of the Association
• Any person who has obtained an AMSPAR Certificate is eligible for admission as an Associate Member of the Association.

For applicants who have not obtained AMSPAR qualifications

• If you have worked in the health care field for 10 years or more, you are eligible for Full Membership
• If you would worked in the health care field for between 5 – 10 years, you are eligible for Associate Membership
• If you have worked in the health care field for less than 5 years, you are eligible for Affiliate Membership*

* Only Full and Associate Members have voting rights within the Association.

How much is it to join?

NEW MEMBERS

Membership Year 1999/00

Full and Associate Members - annual renewal date is 1 April

Affiliate Members - annual renewal date is 1 December

Pro rata payments exist for new members joining the Association during the membership year. The current joining fee is £7.50. This is included in the payments listed below. It is only payable in the first year of membership.

(affiliate fees for membership year 1/12/98-1/12//99 only. After this date they will be the same as Full and Associate)
